Information
to help you calculate the size of drape required
FRENCH
PLEAT drapes are double fullness. We take a 54" wide length of silk
and once sewn and pleated, results in a 24" wide panel. By joining
two 24" panels we create a 48" wide panel. If a 60" wide
panel is required, for example, we join to two and a half widths of open
fabric resulting in a 60" wide panel.
To
calculate how many widths you need, divide the width of the window opening
by 2. For example an 84" wide opening, halved will be 42". Therefore
TWO x 48" panels would be perfect as there would be an extra 6"
on each side of the opening when the drapes are drawn.
To
calculate the length of the drapery, measure the distance from the top
of the rod to 1" above the floor for floor length draperies. Measure
from the top of the rod to 4 inches below the window sill for apron length
draperies. If you want the drapery to pool, allow for extra length. The
drapery hooks or pins at the back of the drape are adjustable, in case
you need to move the drape up or down.
